This is the practical difference between us and a shop back in Leduc. A shop in town means going back mid-day or giving up a Saturday. We are on the commute.

Book an early slot, leave the car when you come in, and get on with your day. We will call with what we found and what it costs before doing anything beyond what you booked, and the car is ready when you head south again.

What People From the Corridor Come In For

Oil changes and tires, mostly, and in roughly equal measure — those are the two things the corridor searches for more than anything else.

Seasonal changeover is the other big one, and it is where being on the commute really tells. Book the swap for a morning you are driving in anyway and it costs you nothing but the phone call. If we are storing your off-season set, you are not hauling four tires up and down the QE2 twice a year either — you arrive with what is on the car and leave with the other set fitted.

Beyond that: brakes, steering and suspension, engine diagnostics, and inspections. We are a full mechanical shop, so if the oil change turns up a worn ball joint we can just deal with it rather than sending you somewhere else.

Trucks and Work Vehicles

A lot of what comes down this corridor is light trucks — people working out of Nisku, out at the airport, or running a vehicle that does real work rather than commuting.

We service domestic and Asian light trucks and half-tons, and we will tell you honestly when something is outside what we take on. Heavier commercial equipment is a different trade and we would rather point you at the right shop than learn on your truck.

New to the Area?

The south corridor keeps growing, and a good share of that is people arriving from other provinces.

If you have brought a vehicle with you, it needs an out-of-province inspection before Alberta will plate it. We are a licensed inspection facility and do them regularly. One thing to know before you come: you need to buy a Request for Vehicle Inspection form from an Alberta registry first — we cannot start without it, and people arrive without it constantly.

The inspection takes about two hours, and the certificate has to reach a registry within 14 days of completion or it expires and has to be done again.

A & R has been at the same address since 1987. Mark, the owner, started here as an apprentice more than twenty years ago and is still the person working on your car. We are AMVIC licensed, a NAPA AutoPro shop, and an AMA/CAA Approved Auto Repair Facility — which means somebody independent audits us and there is a complaints route that does not run through us.

Practically, that means you get told what the car actually needs, you get shown the worn part rather than told about it, and when something can wait we say so. Plenty can.

North on the QE2 from Leduc, then east into south Edmonton — we are on 96 Street NW near 26 Avenue. From Beaumont it is a straight run west, from Nisku slightly shorter than from Leduc itself, and from Devon it is across and north.
